Derek Noyes practices in the areas of Labour & Employment, Real Estate, and Environmental Law. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria in 2010, and was subsequently admitted to the Law Society of British Columbia in 2011 and to the Ontario Bar in 2012.
Derek gained experience in resolving labour and employment issues while working for a Thunder Bay law firm following his call to the Bar. Derek has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Provincial Court, and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario on a wide variety of matters.
Derek takes a pro-active approach to employment issues, finding that it is almost always better to prevent a dispute before it can arise, through sound judgment and sound agreements between employers and employees. Derek prides himself on providing sensible and effective advice to his clients, and on working closely with clients to ensure that matters come to successful conclusions whenever possible.
Prior to attending law school, Derek earned an Honours Degree in History, a Bachelor's Degree in French and a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Lakehead University in 2006. From 2006-2007 Derek worked as a substitute teacher for the Superior-Greenstone District School Board, working with students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12.
